Seedance is the AI video model family from ByteDance, and it has quickly become a favorite for fashion films, UGC ads and AI drama series. Seedance 2.0 arrived early in 2026. Seedance 2.5 followed in the summer, and the jump is bigger than the version number suggests.
Both models are available on Elsewhere Studios, so we use them side by side every day. Here is what actually changed, what each one costs, and which to use for your next video.

What is new in Seedance 2.5
Longer clips in one go
Seedance 2.0 tops out at 15 seconds. Seedance 2.5 can make up to 30 seconds in a single generation. That matters more than it sounds: a full TikTok ad, a drama scene or a cartoon episode can now be one continuous clip instead of three stitched ones that drift apart.
More references, better consistency
Reviewers report that Seedance 2.5 accepts far more reference inputs than 2.0. On Elsewhere Studios you tag each reference with its job, like Model 1, Outfit 2 or Location, so the model knows exactly who wears what and where. The result is faces, garments and products that stay the same from the first second to the last.
Sound that follows the story
Both versions generate sound with the video, including voices, effects and music. With longer clips, Seedance 2.5 can carry dialogue across a whole scene, which is why AI drama and cartoon creators moved to it fast.
Where Seedance 2.0 still wins
- Speed. Seedance 2.0 Fast is the quickest way to test a hook or an idea.
- Cost on short clips. A 5 second 2.0 Fast clip is 15 credits on Elsewhere.
- Simple shots. One model, one outfit, one move. You do not need 2.5's extra power.
- Animating a photo. Turning a campaign image into a short moving clip works great on 2.0.
Which one should you use?
| You want to make | Pick |
|---|---|
| A 5 to 10 second product or outfit clip | Seedance 2.0 Fast |
| A polished 15 second hero clip | Seedance 2.0 or 2.5 at 720p |
| A 20 to 30 second TikTok ad or campaign film | Seedance 2.5 |
| A scene with two or more models and several outfits | Seedance 2.5 |
| An AI drama or cartoon episode with dialogue | Seedance 2.5 |
| Lots of quick drafts to test ideas | Seedance 2.0 Fast or 2.5 at 480p |
A good workflow: draft fast and cheap, then make the final version on the stronger setting.
A smart habit we teach in the AI Campaign Masterclass: test your idea at a low cost setting first. Once the shot works, spend credits on the final version. You will waste far less.
